1010 Scarf Vest Versatility

The 1/13/2013 Sassy SEWer hosted Suzanne Brinks the designer of the Deca Wrap/1010 Scarf Vest.  Suzanne contacted me last year after a fellow American Sewing Guild member suggested she teach a class at the Sassy SEWer.  We talked over the phone and scheduled a meeting.

Suzanne described her pattern as a scarf vest.  I couldn't wrap my head around it.  I assumed it was a bunch of scarfs used to make a vest.  Boy, was I wrong.  Suzanne walked in looking CHIC and Fabulous, wearing her 1010 Scarf Vest.  It reminded me of something I'd find in Chicos.

Suzanne sewed her pattern in several sizes .  Each student tried on the vest to determine the correct size to be cut.  Suzanne demonstrated industry techniques for sewing sheer fabrics. Some I knew, others i didn't.  The class was loving it. We learned a lot!

The 1010 Scarf Vest was made using a sewing machine and serger.  If you only use your serger to finish seams, you'll love the various serger stitches you can use to finish the edges.  If you don't have a serger all the sewing can be done by machine too.

The 1010 Scarf Vest makes the perfect gift.  For those of you who missed the class.  Suzanne has agreed to teach the class again.  The pattern will be available for sale at the Sassy SEWer.  Visit my website for a list class offerings.
